The Winner

Finally, the time has come to determine the winner of this round. Our choice for the best electric pressure washer is the Snow Joe & Sun Joe SPX3000 Pressure Washer.

The reason we chose this one is because, while the SPX3001 is similar in every aspect, but has a larger detergent tank, and while the Ivation is more powerful (2200psi>2030psi), when you calculate what you get and the cost, you will get the most value out of it. The 3001 model has a 1.2-liter detergent tank, but it also costs about 30 dollars more, which is not exactly a good trade-off, considering that the two have the same motor and the same specs.

At this point, it is safe to say that the Ivation is our runner-up. The incredible power this washer possesses and the convenience of the design make it a very good choice overall. Either way, it is impossible to get it wrong with these two, whichever one you choose.

Best Electric Pressure Washers for The Money Reviews

Best Electric Pressure Washer Snow Joe & Sun Joe SPX3000 - (Editors' Choice)

First up, we have a product that arose from the collaboration of two manufacturers – Sun Joe and Snow Joe. Their SPX3000 is a universal cleaning system and a very powerful one as well. The washer comes with a wide range of accessories too, further fortifying this machine’s ubiquity.

So, how powerful SPX3000 is exactly? Its powerful 1800W/14.5 amp motor is capable of generating a staggering 2030 psi of pressure. With that, the washer is capable of even eradicating oil and gasoline stains from concrete. With the addition of a variety of nozzles, you can adapt the machine to clean any surface – just put the nozzle on, point, press the trigger, and the dirt is gone. The washer is perfect for patios, garden equipment, ship decks, cars, car wheels, and other places where mud and grime might be. However, the washer comes with zero nozzle, so be advised.

Another good thing about this washer is that it has a very neat safety feature. This safety feature stops the pump immediately if the trigger is not engaged, which might prevent injury due to unwanted discharge. It also features a 0.9l detergent and cleaning agent tank, and, with the low-pressure nozzle, you can use the detergent in conjunction with water. The underside of the handle has neat grooves for the nozzles. The washer comes with great accessories such as the 10-inch deck and patio cleaning attachment and a rotary brush. The machine is under two-year warranty and is CSA certified.

If you like the product, you can check the price here.

  • A powerful motor generates 2030 psi.
  • A very ubiquitous washer with a wide range of accessories.
  • Comes with a detergent tank.

  • The hose connector is plastic and wears off quickly. The manufacturer will send you a brass one for free if you report a problem.
  • The cord tangles often.
  • Still weaker than its gas counterparts.

Snow Joe & Sun Joe SPX3001 Pressure Washer

Another product for from Sun and Snow Joes, the SPX3001 is a slightly different iteration of the SPX3000. Basically the same machine, there is little difference between them – they have the same motor and the same attachments. The SPX3001 is slightly pricier, and we’ll tell you why.

In case you didn’t catch it the last time, the SPXs have an 1800W motor, with a 14.5 amp input. This motor can drive the pump to generate an excellent 2030 psi of pressure, making this washer the bane of dirt, grime, and mildew. The little washer is so powerful that you can even clean oil stains off the driveway, but we wouldn’t tell you to go crazy with it. The washer comes with the same attachments, including the zero nozzle (which you can freely toss), and is equally versatile as its “brother”.

The device has the same safety feature that stops the pump if the trigger on the gun is not pressed. This stops accidental discharges and can potentially prevent injury or damage to property. It is also covered by a two-year warranty and CSA certified. Now, the reason this baby is pricier is that it has a larger detergent tank. We mentioned already that the SPX3000 has a 0.9l tank, but the 3001 has a 1.2-liter tank. This allows you to prolong your car washing, and won’t leave you scrambling to refill the tank.

  • Powerful 1800W/14.5 amp electromotor.
  • Comes with a wide range of accessories, making the machine very ubiquitous.
  • Comes with an even larger tank than SPX3000.

  • The device experiences the same problem with the connector as the SPX3000.
  • The hose is connected to the top of the washer, causing the washer to topple over if you tug on it.
  • Not a good replacement for a gas washer.

GreenWorks GPW1501 Pressure Washer

If you’re looking for a budget pressure washer that specializes in light to mid duty jobs, the GPW1501 is the device you’ll want. Costing less than $100, it still delivers a good amount of power, and is best used for washing decks, patios, and cars.

The pressure washer uses a slightly weaker 13 amp motor. This motor is capable of producing 1500 psi of pressure, which is more than enough for its intended purposes. The washer is rated at 1.1 gallons per minute.GPW1501 also comes with two interchangeable nozzles, instead of the full range other manufacturers offer. The device comes with a 25-degree nozzle, used for mid-duty washing jobs, and a 40 degree one for fine surfaces.

One of the best characteristics of this washer is because it is so compact. It is one of the smallest devices on our electric pressure washer reviews list, making it very portable and easy to store. It is also one of the quietest, so much so that you won’t even need to use ear protection next to it. It also features a failsafe that will stop the device from accidentally discharging if you aren’t pressing the trigger.

It should also be noted that the product comes with a one-year full warranty, and is certified by the Pressure Washer Manufacturer’s Association.

  • Very affordable.
  • Perfect for light and mid-duty washing.
  • PWMA certified and one-year full warranty.

  • Not very powerful.
  • Doesn’t have a detergent tank.
  • The connector feels cheap and often leaks.

Ivation Electric Pressure Washer

For a more powerful model (even more powerful than the SPXs) check out the Ivation Electric Pressure Washer. For the heaviest duty washing, you will definitely want this model – it cleans with precision and ardor.

An 1800W motor (but still with a 14.5 amp input) can dish out an amazing 2200 psi of pressure, which is considerably more than either of the SPXs. Combined with appropriate nozzles, the device can accommodate any cleaning job and can be as gentle or as aggressive as you want it to. The device is easy to set up, and it only requires 30 seconds of your time. The hose is connected to the bottom, so you can’t tip it over if you tug on it.

The device features the same failsafe the SPXs feature, called the TSS (Total Stop System) which shuts the pump off if you aren’t pressing the trigger on the gun. The device also comes with convenient wheels so you can pull it along, and a 35-foot cord to give you more range. The washer comes with a one-year warranty and is CSA certified.

If you liked this one, you can check out the price here.

  • Exceptionally powerful, ideal for heavy duty washing.
  • TSS failsafe.
  • Has convenient wheels and a long cord for more range.

  • Comes with the zero nozzle which, combined with the power of the pump, can become extremely dangerous.
  • Has a detergent tank, but there is no valve to shut off the flow.
  • Still not a viable replacement for a gas washer.

Snow Joe & Sun Joe SPX1000 Pressure Washer

At spot number five we find another S&SJ SPX-series washer, the SPX1000. Whereas the 3000 and 3001 are heavy duty machine, 1000 is a lightweight device. It still comes with most accessories the other models come, making it still very ubiquitous, but oil stain removal is a bit out of this washer’s grasp. However, for light-duty jobs, and considering its price, this machine is nearly irreplaceable.

The electromotor of the SPX1000 is substantially weaker. It dishes out about 1400W with an 11.5 amp input. This means that the device packs a decent 1450 psi, quite enough for washing patios, decks, and lawn furniture. Because of this, the device is very gentle, and you can use a higher pressure nozzle to clean more sensitive surfaces faster and to a greater effect. The best part is that, if you’re using the low-pressure nozzles, the machine will be gentle enough to wash your car without fear of it damaging the paint job.

Just like the other SPXs, the SPX1000 still features the TSS safety system. It is also covered by the same 2-year warranty as the other models. It should be noted that the washer is not only lightweight, compact and portable, but it also has a pair of wheels so you can drag it behind you as you move along with the cleaning. The washer also comes with a wide selection of accessories, and we’re not only talking about nozzles. You will receive the rotary brush that comes with previous models, but you will also get the 25-foot extension hose, the 34-ounce foam cannon, and the 9-foot aluminum extension spray wand.

You can find out more about the price of the product here.

  • Narrowly specialized for light- and mid-duty jobs.
  • Comes with a wide range of accessories.
  • Compact and light.

  • Has the same problem with the connector.
  • Due to the lack of power and pressure, it will take longer to clean the same amount of surface.
  • The instructions for operating the machine are not very clear, especially in regards if you need to troubleshoot.

Annovi Reverberi Blue Clean AR390SS Pressure Washer

At spot number six we find another heavy duty pressure washer. The Annovi Reverberi Blue Clean AR390SS is fast, efficient and powerful, but still gentle enough to wash easily damaged surfaces.

The AR390SS has a 14 amp motor, only half an amp less than the SPX3000 and 3001. This creates an output of 2000psi, which is plenty for heavy-duty washing, such as stains on the pavement, or caked mud on garden tools and grass on the blades and the underside of your lawn mower. The washer is also made as efficient as possible, by shifting the focus from spending gallons to raw power. The machine uses 80% less water but is 45% more powerful than a standard garden hose. That being said, you should take care with sensitive surfaces, especially if you’re using higher pressure nozzles.

There are some more good things that adorn this model. For example, the AR390SS comes with a crank that allows for faster packing once you’re done. It also comes with wheels so that you can move the device around more easily. It also comes with all of the nozzles, including the zero nozzle. AR390SS has quite the reach, considering it has a 35-foot power cord and a 30-foot high-pressure hose. The washer also comes with a 48-ounce detergent tank.

The washer comes with a 1-year warranty.

Check AR390SS’s price here.

  • Very powerful and efficient.
  • Comes with an extensive cord and hose for better reach.
  • Has wheels for better mobility.

  • The washer is of considerable weight (40 pounds).
  • The hose is rigid and rolling it in is much more difficult than it should be.
  • The footpad that is meant to give you stability during cranking is next to useless.

Annovi Reverberi Blue Clean AR383SS Pressure Washer

With only three electric pressure washer reviews left, we arrive at yet another Annovi Reverberi. This item too is a part of the Blue Clean series, a slightly less powerful, but still very useful, AR383SS Pressure Washer.

This washer has a slightly less powerful motor, rated at 13 amps. Such a motor dishes out a total of 1900 psi and allows for a 1.3 gallons per minute flow. As such, it is still powerful enough to handle heavy-duty washing, but a bit gentler than the 390, giving you more freedom and confidence that you won’t damage sensitive surfaces when washing them using higher pressure nozzles. The machine is just as efficient as the 390, with the washer using 80% less water than a garden hose while being 45% more powerful.

Another good thing about the 383 is that it is a full 7 pounds lighter. As such, it is also more maneuverable. It too sports a 30-foot high-pressure hose and a 35-foot cord. It also comes with detergent tank, albeit this time it is smaller, and can hold about 28 ounces, which can cause some inconvenience, as you will have to refill it. The washer also comes with the interchangeable pressure washer nozzles (including the zero nozzle).

If this washer caught your eye, you can check it out here.

  • Powerful but gentle
  • Very efficient in terms of power and water expenditure.
  • Lighter than the 390 model, thus more maneuverable.

  • Includes the same crank and roller, but with the same problems.
  • Has a smaller detergent tank.
  • Footpad also useless.

GreenWorks GPW1702 Electric Pressure Washer

Last time we had a GreenWorks product, it was a very mellow washer. However, the GPW1702 washer is a much more powerful machine. As such, it still falls into the category of light-to-mid-duty washers, but 1702 can still handle some of the heavier jobs.

To prove this statement, we have to look at the motor first. 1702 features a splendid 13 amp motor that can dish out a very decent 1700 psi. This still pales in comparison to the AR and the SPX models, most of which sport about 2000 psi, making them heavy-duty washers, but the 1700psi this machine generates is still good enough to clean most patios, decks, garden tools and furniture, and lawnmowers of dirt, grime, mildew and caked mud.

One more convenience this particular model offers as opposed to the GPW1501 is that it has a crank and a reel for the hose. Being also a bigger model that you will most likely drag around and not carry, this is a very prudent addition, as it allows for better and cleaner storage. As for accessories, you will get a low-pressure 40-degree nozzle, and the standard 25-degree nozzle. The product is covered by the same 1-year warranty as the 1501 model and is also PWMA certified.

To check the price, follow this link.

  • Fairly powerful, but more gentle toward easily damages surfaces.
  • Has a pair of wheels for maneuverability and a reel for the hose.
  • Sports 35 feet of power cord.

  • Doesn’t have a detergent tank (but can be fitted with a foaming cannon)
  • Doesn’t come with a low-pressure detergent nozzle.
  • Still not powerful enough for extremely tough jobs (stripping paint and washing oil stains).

Karcher K5 Premium Electric Pressure Washer

Last but not least is the Karcher K5 Premium Electric Pressure Washer. This is a slightly pricier device, but it certainly delivers when it comes to power and cleaning capabilities.

The Karcher features a very strong 14 amp motor. With such a high amperage, the machine can produce a good pressure – this one, in particular, can produce 2000 psi. With such pressure, the device packs quite a punch and is suitable for tough jobs and cleaning stains that just won’t disappear. It doesn’t come with special nozzles, but it does come with two specialized wands (Vario and Dirtblaster Wand), each of which will cater to your needs and adapt the washer to the task.

However, one of the best features of Karcher K5 is its durability and innovative approach to motor cooling. The K5 cools the motor using water induction, i.e. it sends the water to the motor to bring the temperature down. This way, the K5’s motor lasts a total of 5 times longer than on any other model. Truly, a remarkable feature.

Lastly, the ubiquity of the K5 is increased thanks to the onboard detergent tank. Thanks to this feature, you don’t have to buy foamer cannon accessory, but can approach your car or your deck with all the components ready. Also, for convenience, the machine has a reel so you can roll the hose up once you’re finished quicker and easier.

If you’d like to check this product out, you can check it here.

  • A very powerful motor, perfectly suited for heavy-duty tasks.
  • Has an onboard detergent tank.
  • Thanks to water induction, the motor is more efficient and will last longer.

  • Does not come with standard nozzle attachments.
  • The hose is rigid and will make reeling harder.
  • The model can tip if you yank the hose.

How Do They Work?

best electric pressure washer

You should know that there are two types of pressure washers, based on what they use as fuel. There are gas pressure washers and electric ones. Today, we’re talking mainly about electric pressure washers, although the principle of operation is pretty much the same. Electric pressure washers use and electromotor that drives a very strong pump that moves the water out of the hose at an extremely high pressure, much akin to firehoses (although not nearly as powerful). As such, they can expunge dirt very efficiently by simply blasting it away.

However, you need to be careful, as so much pressure can cause damage if you focus the water on a single point for too long. It also has to be noted that gas washers are more powerful than the electric ones, but more on that in the next section.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of An Electric Pressure Washer

Electric pressure washers are quite noiseless, easy to maintain and very green. Unlike the gas washers, there are no emissions coming from them because they use an electromotor. Most such pressure washers are small and easily stored. They also don’t need to be winterized and taken inside like gas washers have to because an electric motor is more reliable. On top of all that, they’re much more affordable than gas-operated machines. They typically cost about $100 to $250, while gas washers can cost up to $500 (although they go as low as $250).

However, compared to gas-operated pressure washers, electric washers lack in power. They’re meant for grime and dirt cleaning, but not for stain removal. If your car leaked oil, and you want to remove the stain from your porch, you’ll have to opt for a more powerful machine. Luckily, pressure washers can be rented, so you don’t have to spend those $500 on your very own model.

All in all, electric pressure washers are much better suited for an average man of the street, while gas washers are more heavy duty. They’re less expensive, but remember that with great price tags comes great power.

electric pressure washer reviews

One of the most important things on a pressure washer is the nozzle. The nozzle controls the shape and power of the jet by changing the angle under which the water is expunged. The nozzles can be interchangeable or adjustable. Depending on the model, you will either receive a whole host of nozzles or a single one.

However, the main distinction is in the angle. The widest nozzle sends water out at an angle of 40 degrees. There are also low-pressure nozzles that allow you to combine water with whatever cleaning agents you’re using. These nozzles are used mainly for easily damaged surfaces.

Next, there are the 25-degree ones. These are for regular use and regular surfaces. Naturally, these are much more powerful and will clean faster, albeit they are, potentially, more damaging. Lastly, there are the 15-degree nozzles. These are the most aggressive, and they are used for heavy duty cleaning and stain removal.

However, there is one more setting, albeit this one is, first, rarely used, and, second, very dangerous. This is the zero setting – at this point, the nozzle focuses the jet into a single point. It is highly advisable that you do not use this setting under any circumstances, as zero degree nozzles will cut like plasma cutters, and they can cause severe injuries, poke holes in woodwork and even cause damage to the concrete of your driveway.

One last thing about nozzles is that they’re often color-coded, and this is how you know which one is which. The zero nozzle is coded red, and it is highly advisable you get rid of it. In the case of an adjustable nozzle, it is also recommended you get a nozzle that does not have this feature. Often, users are warned not to use this feature even in manufacturer manuals.

Some safety tips…

Here are a few dos and don’ts when it comes to pressure washers:

  • Wear sturdy shoes (never anything that reveals toes), long pants and goggles.
  • Never point the nozzle at yourself or at other people and animals.
  • If you’re working close to the unit, wear ear protection (especially true for gas washers).
  • Always read the manual first.
  • Never, and we mean never, use the zero setting.
  • Never get closer than 6 inches from any surface.

And that’s it for our little guide. Now, it’s time to get to the main part of the article, and the one you’ve been most expecting.

And, at last, we reached the end of our article. We have put a lot of effort into researching the washers to bring to you the absolute best. Again, we especially recommend the SPX3000, because of its great value, i.e. cost vs. power, utility, and durability.

All that is left now is for you to consider what you need the washer for, and to choose accordingly, and for us to wish you happy washing!
